After 35 years with no trams, Francisco Vázquez (Mayor of A Coruña from 1983 to 2006) resurrected this means of transport with the purpose of linking it to the development of the A Coruña promenade. It started working in December 1997.
The tourist tram is the most original alternative for visiting some of the most emblematic places in the city. The route starts at the Tower of Hercules and finishes at Las Esclavas roundabout, going round the promenade with the best views over the Atlantic Ocean.
The network boasts four trams, reproductions of the originals in which the classic aspect is combined with modern safety elements such as pneumatic doors and direction indicators.
